The main purpose of the Workshop is to provide a forum for presenting and discussing the results of recent low temperature investigations in the microgravity environment, as well as future related studies in fundamental physics that can be carried out on ground and onboard the International Space Station, taking into account the advantage of long-duration experimentation in reduced gravity.

CWS-2002 is included into the list of satellite conferences of the XXIII International Conference on Low Temperature Physics LT-23 (to be held in Japan, August 2002).

THE MAIN TOPICS OF THE WORKSHOP

  • Critical phenomena in condensed helium and heat transfer at the liquid - solid interfaces.
  • Helium and hydrogen droplets.
  • Dynamics of the quantum crystal growth and of the low-density impurity-helium aggregate structures.
  • Phenomena at the surface of quantum liquids and solids (including charged surfaces).
  • Laser cooling, BEC, and atomic physics at low temperatures.
  • Low temperature experimentation in microgravity environments as a tool for further studies in relativity and cosmology.

IMPORTANT DATES

Manuscript Submission - on attendance the Workshop
Corrected Manuscript Deadline - 1 October

PROCEEDINGS

The Proceedings of the Workshop will appear as a special issue of "Low Temperature Physics" journal in 2003, and will be distributed to participants of the Workshop. Referred manuscripts in English will be published as 8-page contributions in the Proceedings. The Authors are requested to bring to the Workshop three camera-ready hard copies of their manuscript. The electronic version of the text and the figures should be presented, also. General information on the rules for manuscript preparation can be found in the LTP journal page
