Rules for changing team by a participant

Once participated in IAO or APAO in any team, the contestant has to continue to participate in the same team at the next Olympiads.

As an exception, it is allowed changing team in one of the following special cases, if after application to the previous Olympiad:

  • The contestant has changed his or her citizenship.
  • The contestant obtained a residence permit in the country, in which team he or she wishes to participate at coming Olympiad.
  • The contestant lost a residence permit in the country, in which team he or she participated at past Olympiad.

Confirmation documents about changing citizenship / obtaining or loosing residence permit must be included into the application documents list while applying for coming Olympiad.

Concerning changing team from/to Crimea or Moscow Land (participation under the codes CR or ML) the terms "citizenship of a counry" and "residence permit for living in a country" should be treated as place of permanent residence and study inside/outside Crimean Peninsula or Moscow city and Moscow region respectively.

  • Note. Participation of Crimea and Moscow Land as independent teams implies obligation of teams of parent countries (Ukraine and Russia respectively) not to include contestants living in territories of Crimean Peninsula and Moscow Land (city and region) into the teams of the parent countries. Inclusion of such students in the teams of parent countries could lead to the loss of allowance to participate teams of these territories in IAO.

Rules for formation of Crimea and Moscow Land teams and changing team are the same for contestans participating in quota and out of quota (last Olympiad I-II Diploma prizewinners).
