VII IAO    Dates

[Image of BTA, winter]The 7th International Astronomy Olympiad has be held on October 22-29, 2002 at the Special Astrophysical Observatory of Russian Academy of Sciences (SAO RAS) in North Caucasus. The dates of the Olympiad were about the same as two years and four ago when the V IAO and III IAO took place.

The following information before the Olympiad was possible for the proposed participants and other astronomy amateurs interested in VII IAO

VII IAO    Problems

Official languages of the Olympiad - English and Russian. Problems have been prepared by the Organizing Committee in these two languages and the leaders were responsible to translate tasks to native languages of participants just before the rounds (three hours before).

Problems will be presented later.

VII IAO    Teams

Authorized National Representative Astronomy Organizations (ANRAO) of the participating countries were authorized to form the teams of the Olympiad member-states.
Applications have been received from teams of the following states:

  6. Georgia (*)
  7. India
  8. Italy
  9. Korea (*)
  10. Moldavia (*)
  11. Moscow land
  12. Romania (*)

  16. SAO RAS (local team of host Observatory)
(*) For the first time participation.

And the following teams did arrived to the Olympiad:

VIII IAO    International Astronomy Olympiad 2003

There were two valid applications for IAO-2003 hosting. Having heard the report of the Chairman of the Coordinating Council of the International Astronomy Olympiad the Euro-Asian Astronomical Society Board gives a card-blanche to Local Organizing Committee of Sweden for realization the VIII IAO at the end of September, 2003 in Stockholm.

IX IAO    International Astronomy Olympiad 2004

Information about the International Astronomy Olympiad 2004 will be known in the late 2003. The Olympic Coordinating Council will be glad to receive your proposals. According to Statutes on the Olympiad Autorized National Representative (Astronomical) Organizations may send applications for IAO-2004 hosting not later November 22, 2003.
