The 11th International Symposium on Ferroic Domains and Micro- to Nanoscopic Structure and the 11th Russia/CIS/Baltic/Japan Symposium on Ferroelectricity is scheduled August 20 - 24, 2012, Ekaterinburg, in the very middle of Russia. A special topic of mesoscopic structures in liquid crystals is announced. More information can be found at the simposium website. Note that abstract submission deadline is March 1.

December 20-23 Igor Ilchishin of Institute of Physics, National Academy of Sciences, Ukraine, has been visiting Chernogolovka in the framework of the joint Russian-Ukrainian project Studies of optical edge and defect modes and low threshold lasing in chiral liquid crystals.
