IV-VI Russian Olympiads on Astronomy and Space Physics
1996/97, 1997/98, 1998/99


In year 1996/97, as in the past years, there are few-level astronomical olympiad in Russia. A local tours took place in many regions of the country and their winners have been invited to the final competition (All-Russian Olympiad) on April, 7-12, in town of Troitsk (about 40 km from the center of Moscow). Participants have been divided into three age groups: 8-9, 10 and 11 year of education. Program of the Olympiad proposes theretical and practical exams, astronomical lectures of professional scientists, excursions to scientific institute and local sightseeings.

The winners of the Olympiad and their teachers have been invited to the IV Autumn Astronomical School in Special Astrophysical Observatory RAS on October 22 - November 1, 1997. Program of the School includes the II International Olympiad of Euro-Asian Astronomical Society.

In years 1997/98 and 1998/99 the astronomy olympiads in Russia were analogous to ones of the previous years. Winners of local Olympiads were invited to the All-Russian competition also in Troitsk on April 7-12, 1998 and March 24-30, 1999. The winners of the V Olympiad (I-II Diploma) and their teachers have been invited to the V Autumn Astronomical School in Special Astrophysical Observatory RAS in the late October 1998.
There were also an Autumn Astronomical School in CrAO (settlement of Nauchnyj, Republic of Crimea) in the late November 1998 for the III Diploma prizewinners (and their teachers, of course) and winners of the Astro-competitions of CIS states.
