Alexander A. Levchenko is a specialist in physics of quantum liquids and crystals, as well as in physics of nonlinear phenomena in wave and vortex systems.
His main research interests include:
- Heat transfer in quantum liquids and crystals
- Injected charges in quantum liquids and crystals
- Instability of neutral and charged liquid surfaces
- Wave and vortex turbulence on the surface of a normal liquid
- Vortices on the surface and in the bulk of normal and superfluid liquids
Alexander A. Levchenko was born on October 24, 1955, in Marfino, Astrakhan region.
He studied at the Faculty of General and Applied Physics, Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology, from 1973 to 1979. Since 1979, he has been working at ISSP RAS. In 1984, Alexander A. Levchenko defended his PhD dissertation. From 1994 to 2002, he was Scientific Secretary of ISSP RAS. In 2002, he defended his doctoral dissertation. From 2002 to 2017, Alexander A. Levchenko was Deputy Director of ISSP RAS. Since 2005, he has been Head of the Laboratory of Quantum Crystals. Since 2017, Alexander A. Levchenko has been Director of ISSP RAS. In 2022, he was elected Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
